    Oh yes, there are!
    I am working on the team of a spacecraft, actually two of them, called STEREO that should go up in about a year. The spacecraft will have imagers and solar wind sensor instruments and will orbit the Sun and show it to us from two points of view. We have some information on this web page:

    Also going up next year (I think) is Solar-B a Japanese spacecraft. In a couple more years after that we will have the Solar Dynamics Observatory.
