Hi everyone how are all of you I want to tell you.Do comets actually hit the earth because once I read on the computer that a comet will hit the earth but then I asked my dad and he said that it hits the earth but most of them hit the earth but all the comets are small so we only get mini earth quakes so I just wanted to ask you if he was telling the truth because all of you are scientist and you must know all of that well thats all I wanted to tell all of you. And just to tell you, you are going to be hearing my questions alot so get ready.

There is a lot of material from space that hits the earth every day... estimated to be 100 tons a day! But its mostly small stuff that burns up in the atmosphere .. a full-fledged big comet doesn't hit very often. Some scientists think a comet impact may have caused the Tungusta explosion in Siberia in 1908. Don't worry, they are quite rare!
