    Hi Sarah,

I was not home-schooled. I attended the public schools in the town where I grew up, but my parents often made arrangements for me to participate in educational activities outside of school like art classes, language classes, and music lessons. My parents also made sure that I did my homework, helped me if I was having trouble with an assignment, and took me to the public library to do research for school projects and get books to read for fun.

I was in Girl Scouts, but I don't think that it really influenced my decision to become a scientist. However, by doing the activities required to earn badges I learned to work independently and teach myself how to do things by reading books from the library. I think these are important skills for both students and scientists.
