    Who discovered what a Lunar Eclipse is and why do they happen?

    Hi Chelsea & Jessica.
    Eclipses are so clear for all to see that I don't think you could say who discovered them.

    Many ancient societies studied them and at least some of them understood what caused them. You can read more about that here:
