I am not sure about the other scientists, but I won't be able to make it to the solar eclipse this year. I was going to go with my group but then I found out I am pregnant! I don't want to travel so far while pregnant since it isn't supposed to be good for the fetus. But I will definitely see the webcast, which the Exploratorium is making of the eclipse. Hi Breanna,
I'm not going, but there is a group from my lab that is headed to Africa to test out a new telescope during the eclipse. They are across the hall packing up their equipment right now.

<!--[if !supportEmptyParas]--><!--[endif]--> I will travel to Cairo Egypt for a solar physics meeting. I’ll be there on the day of the eclipse, but Cairo is more than 600 kilometers east from the path of the total solar eclipse. I haven’t decided whether I’ll go 600 km for the total eclipse right now. But I’ll at least see a partial one. However, a total eclipse is far more amazing. I was actually lucky enough to see one several years ago in 1999 (I think, got check on that.) It is definitely worth seeing, it’s like nothing else in the world. By the way, there will be one in 2009 in China, which is predicted to last longer than 6 minutes.
