how do you know stonehenge was used for astronomy? did it also study the sun?

We actually don't know that. Most archaeologists believe that stonehenge was likely a burial ground. An astronomer in the 1960's suggested that it could have acted as an astronomical calendar with different points referring to solstices and equinoxes, but there has been much debate about this as critics believe that the builders would have lacked the necessary knowledge to predict these events.
