    No, the Sun will not become a supernova, only stars with a lot more mass can. Our star will go through a red-giant phase; its atmosphere will puff out almost to (possibly all the way to) Earth. What will remain will be a very small white dwarf that will slowly cool to become a black dwarf. The universe is not yet old enough to have created any black dwarfs. Any black dwarf star will be very difficult to find, because it will not emit any light.
