I'm curious about the speed of the sun in relation to the Galaxy. There seems to be different opinions out there. Is it really traveling at 450,000 mph?

The speed of objects revolving around the center of the galaxy is not as expected, and is some evidence for "dark matter". But, the Sun moves about the center at about 220 km/s or about 490,000 mph, which is close to the number you quote. For reference, Earth moves around the Sun at about 28 km/s, or about 62,000 mph.
