    The Sun is about 149 597 871 km or 92 955 807 miles away from the Earth. Because that number is so large and tricky to remember, astronomers use Astronomical Units. The Sun is one Astronomical Unit (AU) away from the Earth. It takes the light from the Sun around 8 minutes to reach us. Hazel
