Did the sun have sunspots when it was "created" or did they occur over time?

Hi, This is a good question! I should say that sunspots are created when the Sun evolve to certain stage where the magnetic field is strong enough. In fact, sunspots are not always there. You might have heard about the "Solar Cycle". On average, a solar cycle last about 11 years. Around solar maximum, the Sun is most active, and many sunspots appear on the solar surface; around the solar minimum, very few sunspots there, some times even days or months we see spotless Sun. Sunspots are places where the magnetic fields are stronger than about 1000 gauss and ofter has complicated twisted structure. Yan
