I am guessing it probably does. The key thing, though, is that we have not proved it yet. If we can detect it and find out something about it that will be an incredible expansion of our knowledge not just about the universe but about the conditions needed for life on our planet.

Hi Kristen,

One of the most exciting active missions right now is the Kepler mission which is continually discovering new planets around other stars, and some of them are even about the size of Earth. We can only see a tiny chunk of our galaxy well enough to be able to detect those planets, and so the galaxy must be full of solar systems of every kind! I believe with all of those possibilities, there has to be some form of life elsewhere in the Universe. There's a whole lot of space out there for us to be totally unique.
