    Hi Debra,

I don't really do astrophotography as a hobby on a regular basis, but a few years I ago I tried taking some aurora photos when the northern lights were visible in Iowa during a geomagnetic storm. I had to do fairly long (30 second) exposures with the lens and film I had available, but the photos came out ok. I would have put one of the photos in this post for you, but the photos are not on the Internet and the message board will only let me link to photos that are already online.

Hi Debra, I'm your friendly systems admin on these boards. I hope you don't mind me chiming in. I do some astrophotography as a hobby (although I have not had time to do any in the last 3 years). Here is a photo of the Sun in H-alpha I've taken during the last Venus transit. The black round spot on the Sun is planet Venus passing in front of it.
