Is there any evidence been found to show that the pyramids of egypt were used as an ancient observing device?

    Hi Chris,

I can't answer your question. But I do know that the Egyptian temples were carefully aligned based on the Sun. For example, the Great Temple at Karnak was aligned on the rising of the midwinter sun (winter solstice) - the shortest day of the year. On this date, sunshine would travel way down the long central corridor. After this date, the days start getting longer again -- very important to the ancients.

The ancient Egyptians were great astronomers. You can learn more about it in the Wikipedia article on Egyptian Astronomy https://en.wikipedia.org/.../Egyptian_astronomy.
