    How big would the United States be compared to a sunspot? from Johnny at SRE

    Sunspots are huge structures! Many sunspots are approximately as big as the Earth, so much larger than the United States. However, sunspots can be much larger than this. For example on March 29, 2001 a sunspot that was 14 times larger than the Earth was reported.
