    Hi Mark,

The last total solar (and only one so far) I saw was about 10 years ago - it was visible in the Caribbean, and I went to Curacao to see it.It was really fantastic. I think I snapped a picture or two, but I was not serious about it - you have to know what you are doing and put some effort into it to take a good eclipse picture. I was with some other people who brought along lots of telescopes and fancy cameras to take nice pictures, but I was did not want anything to distract me from just looking at the eclipse!

Below is a photo of the eclipse that Fred Espenak took. Actually this is made up of more than one photo taken with different exposure times.

    cheers,

    Terry

The last solar eclipse I saw was from Hungary in 1999. I tried to take pictures,
but like Terry I just ended up looking! Prior to that was in Hawaii, when I was trying to do my PhD thesis. I had an experiment all planned out but we got rained out. The first eclipse I saw was when I was almost a baby, on Cape Cod. I barely remember it, but I do recall it was beautiful!
