    how manny miles away from the center of the galexy is the sun?

    The sun is about 28,000 light years away from the center of our Milky Way. That means that it takes light 28,000 years to travel from the sun to the center of the Milky Way.
    Light travels with a speed of about 300,000 km per second. A year is about 32,000,000 seconds, so the distance would be
    28,000 x 32,000,000 x 300,000 = 300,000,000,000,000,000,000 meter (1 with 20 zeros), or 200,000,000,000,000,000 miles (1 with 17 zeros).


    Because it's easy to lose count of all the zeros we use light years...
