I never have seen a green flash when the sun sets, and I have looked for it alot. Is it real? Have scientists seen it?

It is definitely real. I haven't seen one, but I know people who have. The atmospheric conditions need to be just right and you need to have a pretty clear view of the horizon to see it.

An retired astronomer that used to be at San Diego State University has simulated and studied the green flash. He has an interesting website with lots of information here: https://aty.sdsu.edu/bibliog/overview.html
