When was the cycle concerning sunspots, as to their highs or lows first noticed?

    Hi, Vicki!
The first registers of sunspots were made by the Chineses more than 3 thousands years ago. But only in 1843, somebody (the German Heinrich Schwabe) noticed that the occurrence of the observed sunspot was following a cyclic pattern with period of 11 years, more or less. This cycle is known as Schwabe cycle, or solar cycle.
