    how far out into the solar system can solar storms effect a planet?

    Hi Silvia,

    Solar storms can effect ALL the planets in our solar system..and their influence extends way beyond. The Voyager spacecraft have now left the solar system and even our "heliosphere," the region of influence of the Sun and its solar wind. Beyond the heliosphere is the "interstellar medium" and we have evidence that solar storms even hava an influence at the boundary between the heliosphere and the interstellar medium.

    Astronomers are now looking for effects of "starstorms" on planets in extrasolarsystem...planetary systems around other stars.
