What are sunspots made of, and their true color, are they really black?

Hi Serena/Tahir (Titan) Ms. Rivera, Sunspots are caused by strong magnetic field at small regions on the Sun. The appear darker that the surround solar surface because they are cooler. But they are actually still very hot by the Earth standard. If the sunspots were isolated from the surrounding photosphere they would be brighter than an electric arc! Yan
