Our Sun is defintely hot enough to burn up anything that gets too close, but then again so are all the other stars out there!
I'm not entirely sure what you mean by the Sun's "ranking in solar heat" but I think what you're referring to is actually where the Sun fits into what scientists call the "main sequence" sequence of stars. There are a lot of different factors that determine where a star fits on the main sequence. These factors include the star's mass, luminosity, density, and the types of nuclear reactions that take place deep inside its core.
