Eric Sanchez of Mountain View Middle School in Alamogordo, New Mexico would like to know if the sun will eventually explode into a super nova. If it will, will it become a black dwarf or a black hole?
Hi Eric,
From what I can remember about stellar evolution, a relatively small star like our Sun just does not have enough mass to explode into a supernova or collapse into a black hole. It is more likely that our Sun will end its lifetime as a white dwarf.
