Yes, astronauts have witnessed solar eclipses from space and they have a very unique perspective on these events. If you follow this link:

you can see a picture of the shadow cast by the Moon on the Earth during the solar eclipse that could be seen from Turkey on March 29, 2006. The shadow is the big black spot in the center of the photo. Astronauts took this photo from the International Space Station.

A solar eclipse is only visible in a narrow strip on the Earth's surface called the eclipse path, as the Moon's shadow sweeps across the surface of the Earth. I really like this photo because it gives you an idea of just how small the area where a solar eclipse can be observed actually is.
