If your trying to find water on Mars, why don't you just get ice from the poles and melt the ice.

Hi. I think scientists who study Mars (I study the Sun myself) are especially interested in liquid water because they think that liquid water would be more likely than ice to support life. Life is the thing they are especially interested in finding.
