Hi There, Sunspots on the Sun, are temporary distrubances that come to the surface as a result of strong magnetic activity. It temporarly "cools" the surrounding surface, and in doing so, turns it darker, due to two major differences; 1. Light 2. Temperature The light is obviously less intense, thus it's darker appearance, and its temperature has been measured to be about 2,500 to 3,000 Deg F. cooler than the surrounding surface not affected by a Sunspot! You might say you can compare a Sunspot on the Sun, to that of a "pimple" on your face, it's a temporary disturbance, or the world's most renowned dog, the dalmation, spots and all, they're unique, like the Sun with Sunspots! Thanks for visiting Solar Week!
