Total solar eclipses happen somewhere in the worlds as often as once a year, but sometimes there are a few years between total eclipses. If you include partial and annular eclipses, they usually happen twice a year. However, they are only visible from very limited areas of the earth, so unless you like to travel you don't get to see them all.
