How hot are solar flares and how far out into space do they go?

    Hi.
Solar flares can reach over 20 million degrees Kelvin - that is over 35 million degrees Fahrenheit!

They don't actually go all that far from the Sun's surface, but they can be associated with coronal mass ejections, which shoot out into the solar system and can affect us here at Earth! Also flares can spit streams of high energy electrons out into space too.

    Cheers,
    Terry
