    Hi,
The sun is mostly made up of hydrogen the lightest of all the elements. In the center of the sun, the sun's core, the pressures are so high from all the sun pushing down on it that the hydrogen is super dense and is pressed together to form the next heaviest element, helium. This is called nuclear fusion - it creates heluim, but it also creates the energy the powers the sun and ultimately make life on earth possible.
