Hi, Coronal mass ejections reach spacecraft all the time, although usually near Earth's orbit (where most of our spacecraft are) without destroying the spacecraft or the instruments. While most properties of coronal mass ejections are expected to be stronger closer to the Sun, Solar Probe and the instruments have been designed to operate under such conditions. In fact, we hope Probe will fly through a coronal mass ejection close to the Sun so that we can determine just how different the conditions are close to the Sun. -Christina
