hello, why do the spots seem to be only near, or along the sun's equator, have any ever been seen near the sun's poles? thank you

Hi Kimi,
Sun spots change there position over the course of the solar cycle. Early in the cycle they appear at higher latitudes (although not actually at the poles). By the end of a cycle (like now) they appear near the equator. Scientists are still trying to understand exactly why this is. It probably has to do with flows on and beneath the Sun's surface.
