Hello, Unlike many of the Solar Week scientists, I don't actually study the Sun for my job. My research is mainly on the Earth's magnetosphere, how it interacts with the solar wind, and how it is affected by the Sun. I study measurements made by satellites orbiting the Earth of magnetic fields and electron, protons, and ions trapped in Earth's magnetic field. I have never belonged to an astronomy club, but I do enjoy observing the planets through a small telescope. I got my first telescope as a present way back when I was in high school. I also own a small solar telescope, which I bought to watch the eclipse in August and to look at sunspots. Since I don't actually study the Sun at work, looking at sunspots is more of a fun hobby for me than part of my job.
