Will New Horizons give us an idea of what conditions are like on pluto? how might the sun appear from that far away?

    Hi Amanda,

Pluto is so far away from the Sun, that the Sun would appear to be about the size of a star. However, it would be an incredibly bright star, and would be more than a hundred times brighter than the full Moon appears from Earth. So, that's still pretty bright.

The New Horizons Mission has many different instruments that will provide new information about conditions on Pluto. It has instruments to look for an atmosphere on Pluto and its moons, and determine the composition of any atmosphere found. It also has imagers to make maps of the planet and geologic features.
