do you think solar energy can ever be a practical home energy use "for" all in the u.s., or just a select few?

    Hi Giselle,

There's two ways of thinking about your question...and I'll explore both..although I am NOT an expert on this.

I think that for most people that live in HOUSES (not condos orapartments), it could be practical to have them generate much of their own energy using solar panels on the roof etc. Its been shown to be practical even in the Seattle area..but of course an alternate source ("the grid') must also be available..

For people living in apartments & condos and for industrial uses, energy will have to come from "the grid," and some part of this energy could be generated from large solar arrays out in the desert or wherever. But I don't think it possible to generate anywhere near enough electricity to supply most of our energy needs from solar.

Just what I think based on reading ..

    Paulett
