Hello!
The Sun is always out there in space, about 92,955,807.273 miles away from the Earth. It doesn't matter if it is night or day where you are located on Earth, the Sun is still shining out there at the center of our solar system. To an observer here on Earth, it looks like the Sun is moving across the sky from east to west from sunrise to sunset. However, this motion across the sky is actually due to the fact that the Earth is spinning on its axis as it orbits the Sun. The side of the Earth that is facing away from the Sun will always be dark. When it is night time in Florida, New York, or Europe, these places are on the side of the Earth that has rotated away from the Sun. As the Earth spins on its axis, different places will rotate out of the darkness and into the sunlight. Because Florida and New York are both located fairly close in longitude on the east coast of the US, it will be night in both places at the same time. Locations on the Earth that are further to the
east from your current location will have later dates/times relative to where you are. Europe is further east than New York and Florida, so that while it is night time on the east coast of the US, it can be early in the morning on the next day in Europe. This is why we have time zones - local noon where ever you are is the time when the Sun more or less directly overhead.
