In the core of our Sun nuclear fusion is happening. This is where the Sun's energy comes from. The Sun is so powerful that it gives off 400 trillion trillion Watts. That's the same as about 7 trillion trillion lightbulbs!! That is 7,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 lightbulbs!! Which makes it really bright even though it's still far away.

Because it is so bright you should make sure to wear special sunglasses to protect your eyes or use a special solar telescope which blocks out some of the light when looking at the Sun.
