What would it look like if you were inside a sunspot?

    Hi Wendy,

Mostly it would be very bright and hot (if you could perceive such things in your newly vaporized state!).

Sunspots are some of the coolest places of on the sun, but they are still very hot (around 3,800 C or 6,7000 F). There is water in sunspots, but it is in the form of super hot steam. Although near the surface of the sun the sunspots are relatively cool, Soaring up above out of the sunspots are million degree magnetic loops that extend up into the Sun's atmosphere. These loops are the sites of the powerful explosions known as solar flares. Seeing a solar flare up close would be amazing.
