How many total solar eclipses have you seen, and did you phorograph it?

    Hi Brian,

I have not seen any total solar eclipses, but I have seen a partial solar eclipse and several total lunar eclipses. I was not able to take photographs of the eclipses, but I have taken photographs of the aurora borealis or northern lights. I'm more of a magnetospheric physicist than a solar physicist or astronomer. The northern lights are more closely related to my research than solar eclipses, so I get really excited when there might be a big geomagnetic storm and the chance to see the northern lights where I live.

    Hi Brian,

Unfortunately, I was not that lucky. However, I will never forget the
lunar eclipse on the day we had our written exam in physics in high
    school.

In order not to miss it, we had to hurry through the exam. We assambled
in the school yard, each one of us equipped with a piece of flat glas, a
candle, and matches. We lit the candle, blackened the glas on one side,
and looked through the glas to watch the lunar eclipse. How did it
protect our eyes? The glas filtered out the UV radiation and the soot
particles protected us from the infrared radiation.
