Helping Visitors Navigate the Path of the 2017 Eclipse: Interpreting the Great American Solar Eclipse

Throughout North America on August 21, 2017, people will experience the sun darkening in the middle of the day, and those in the Path of Totality will see the sun fully eclipsed by the moon. Solar eclipses have been captivating civilizations throughout history, presenting a rare and beautiful view of the sun—the star that fuels life on Earth. Come learn how you can use this spectacular celestial event to engage visitors through many scientific and cultural meanings of a solar eclipse. We’ll explore cutting-edge solar and lunar science, innovative citizen science programs, and a rich variety of hands-on activities.
